Cara Delevingne (one of my favorite people) is perfect, am I right? Or so it seems.
We tend to assume that she has a fabulous life because she models beautiful clothes for famous designers, ACROSS THE WORLD, and he recently starred in a film based off John Green's Paper Towns and another movie titled Suicide Squad. Little did us viewers know that Cara has been battling depression for quite some time now.
Cara, 22, was first diagnosed with depression at the age of 15 and opened up about her struggles with the disease in an interview with fellow Brit actor Rupert Everett at the Women in the World Summit. She was happy being completely honest about her experience and how even if her life did look picturesque, she was far from happy, saying, "In our culture we are told that if we are beautiful, if we are skinny, if we are successful, famous, if we fit in, if everyone loves us, we'll be happy. But that's not entirely true." She continues to explain the constant pressure to please everyone, including her parents in regards to school and her grades and becoming a model wasn't much help either.
What finally did aid in Cara's recovery and helped manage her depression was a combination of being able to open up to close friends, therapy, anti-depressants, writing, and... YOGA.
**DISCLAIMER: YOGA HEALS ALL**
"It was like, I would write and I would read what I'd written, and it was like someone else is talking to me... it was like, 'What? Is that how I feel?' It was a very strange experience," she says.
Cara hopes that by opening up on her illness, she will shed light on mental disease and let others that are suffering know that they aren't alone.
I think this makes me love her even more because now she isn't perfect, but a real human! Whadda ya think?

ReplyDeleteRight! The media always points the things out that she does wrong when she just acts how any normal human woud... it just "seems bad" because she is famous.
