Cops: Friend or Foe?

So I am sure we have all seen the video of the cop ripping the girl out of her chair because she was on her phone right? Well if not lets just recap:

Well not all cops act in this manner when they are faced with a... sticky situation lets call it. Well on Monday, D.C. police officers broke up a fight. One officer approached a group of teens who lingered behind on the sidewalk and asked them to leave. Rather than comply, one girl Aaliyah Taylor, 17, played Silento's "Watch Me (Whip/Nae Nae)" on her phone and started to dance infront of the officer.  Aaliyah told the Washington Post that the officer just laughed and said she had far better dance moves.

Rather than turning this situation from moderate to very very bad, Aaliyah and the anonymous cop ended up battling it out, street style. They agreed that if Aaliyah won, her group could continue to chill on the street. If the cop won, they would leave.

After two minutes of intense whipping, nae-naeing, and stany legging, both Aaliyah and the cop declared themselves winners and parted ways. This ecounter was especially significant for Aaliyah because she has seven siblings, and each of them has been arrested or detained for non-violent offenses like breaking curfew. She was expecting all cops to be rude or disrespectful but the only thing this cop had out for her was her dance moves.

So what do you think... Friend or Foe?

xoxo, Kaila
